Indians Break Through Against Eagles

The Holt HS Indians broke through against the Liberty HS Eagles on Friday SEP 16, winning 25-22 in OT in a rain soaked game.

To say the rain had an impact on the game is an understatement, for most of the game a steady soaking rain fell at Liberty HS (thank goodness for the new turf fields!), allowing for only five attempted passes between both teams the entire night. The Indians offense relied on the running of Cole Mueller and the offensive line that keeps getting better week after week.

The defense took advantage of several Liberty fumbles recovering five on the night, and limited the Eagles to no big plays on the night. The defensive line came up big all night blowing up Liberty’s veer offense before it got started most plays.

In OT, Liberty won the toss and elected to take possession first, the Eagles drove down inside the 10 where the Indians defense held strong and limited the scoring to a field goal. The Indians possession was set up with a 20+ yard run by Cole Mueller on second down and the Holt had first and goal at the 4. On the next play Shane Marion took the handoff and would not be denied, he powered through a facemask and several Liberty defenders into the end zone for the win.

Next up for the Indians is the Ft. Zumwalt North Panthers, Friday SEP 23 at North.
